Trouble with Weather
We have had lots of bad weather with storms and tornado warnings. The bad weather is travelling right over New Zealand. The wind blew the lid off Dana's rabbit hutch and luckily they weren't in there. A thunderstorm hit a tree near Samara's farm and it fell over and crushed the fence. Anais's tramp flipped over and broke their washing line. Some lightening nearly struck Kezia's house. It was right above them. When the thunder and lightning hit Paige had no power for a couple of hours. The lightning went right beside Olliver's house and their windows went blue. In Wellington there was a hailstorm and hail was the size of golf balls and it broke a bike in half. In Waikenanae there was a tornando. Water got into Meg's phone cable and her neighbourhood didn't have any phones for a while. The hailstones frightened Paige's cat who had to sleep inside. A plane from Auckland got hit with lightning and it had to make an emergency landing. Rosalia's car got a little smash in their window from the hail.
Bad weather affects animals who might lose their habitat and the wind blows away their food. Trees can be blown over and die. Lightning can hit trees and break them. Rain causes landslides and floods gardens and lawns. So bad weather does affect the environment.
