Air is Important
In wild empty parts of the world, the air is very clean. But in places where there are millions of people, the air is often dirty.

Term 3 Enviro Action Day
The very special event was the official opening of our school bird aviary. As well as that we all worked in our class gardens, made healthy food for lunch, did Conservation Week activities, dressed in green, went to the nursery to learn about our new birds from the Room N students who gave bird talks, and we planted trees on the feild. Lots and lots of fun!
Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week Litter Clean -Up
We did our bit for the great Kiwi Clean Up. We used the bags and gloves given to us by Keep New Zealand Beautiful and we cleaned up local streets and parks. In this photo are are giving a thumbs down for litter! It is really disappointing that so many people don't use bins for their litter.
We talked about the clean-up at the school assembly.

Tree Planting at Timona Park
At last we have planted the pohutukawa trees. We met Mr James from the Manawatu Council at Timona Park and he told us how to plant them, and where to plant them. He said he was very proud of Manchester Street School for growing such healthy plants. Mrs Wallis from Keep Feilding Beautiful came to help us plant the trees. Some of us have been back to the park to check on them already. We hope that the people of Feilding will enjoy these trees for many years. Mr Alan Mason who gave us the trees when they were baby seedlings will be happy because he wanted them planted in the community.

Enviro Care Code Sign
4 Envirokids- Sophia, Ella, William and Ciara have worked hard at designing a picture Enviro Care Code for display somewhere outside at our school. We love the design- well done team! Now we have to get it to the signwriters.
Pohutukawa Trees Ready
The pohutukawa trees we have raised from tiny seedlings are now ready for planting. Mr James from the Council would like us to plant them on the river banks at Timona Park. Mr Mason who gave us the seedlings to raise about 5 years ago, will be happy to see them planted out in the community.
Project Water Tank
The Project Water Tank action group worked with Mr Barratt this week to plan measurements and possible locations for the water tank we are hoping to get.
Thanks Mr Barratt for sharing your knowledge and skills. There was lots of measuring, calculating, questionning, discussion, problem solving and a whole lot of THINKING going on. We are another step forward on the project!

Learning How to Help Stranded Whales
It's a good idea to know what you are doing. It wouldn't be good to do something thinking that you are helping, but actually you are doing the wrong thing!

Looking After our Gardening Tools
We have lots of gardening tools and keeping them organised and tidy in the shed is a job we seem to be doing all the time! The Green Team thought of some rules for looking after tools.
