Wonderful Worms

The Green Team has been investigating Nature's very own recycler- worms! We have a new worm farm that we will be setting up to recycle even more of our food scraps. We never like it when the weather stops us from getting outside into our school nursery, so today we took some worms inside to observe up close. As gardeners we need to be good at looking closely so that we can help our plants and gardens to be healthy. Some of the things we noticed were- -worms don't have eyes or legs -worms scrunch up and stretch out like a rubber band to move along - it's not that easy to tell which end is which until they move, then we can tell which end is the mouth and which end is the tail - if you hold a worm up to the light you can see food inside it travelling through its body - baby worms are really tiny and delicate - worms try to get out of the light -their bodies are slippery and slimy and that makes it hard to hold them - some worms have a big saddle

Where do we put the path?

The Green Team has been thinking hard about where the path should go in our Bush Walk at the top of the field. They have been trying to create a pathway that will be interesting for the people who use it. There are parts of the Bush area that are not suitable for walking on because it gets quite wet in the winter.
