2 Junior Envirokids Want to Say...

I love the earth because it's got nature. Nature goes like a life cycle because it goes over and over again. The best thing is caring about the animals and plants and that's why I like being an Envirokid. Bonnie,7 I like being an Envirokid because we get to learn about the world and learning about animals that live in the environment like kiwis. Kiwis are native so we should keep them safe. We should make special places for them so no predators like stoats and rats and dogs and cats get them. Akira,7

Litterless Lunch Reflection

Envirokids Arwen, Molly and Jack have been reflecting on how litterless lunches are going. Room M has been doing a great job with handing out litterless lunch tokens at lunchtimes. We have given them a questionnaire to fill out to give us some feedback on how they feel it is going. When we have this information we will decide what the next step needs to be. This great team of Envirokids already has some ideas on where to next. Litterless lunches are a step towards sustainablity for our school. We are creating less waste to send to the landfill, we use all our food scraps in the worm farms and we use the worm farm products to fertilise our plants in the nursery and in our gardens.

Mr Belk, the Best Caretaker in the World has now completed the extension to our new bird aviary. A bird aviary in our nursery has long been a goal from our Enviroschool Vision. Room N now has the class enviro job of looking after our aviary. They will be organising birds and all the things birds need in their home to keep them healthy, safe and happy. All will be revealed on Enviro Action day later this term!

Junior Envirokids Hunt For Native Seedlings

They hunted under trees in the Native Grove at the top of the field. It was hard work around all those scratchy branches.Now we will pot up the seedlings in our nursery and look after them to help them grow into strong healthy plants. The Junior Envirokids saw lots of weeds up there so we will need to spend some more time up there!
